The recent rain, accompanied by gusty winds, that lashed the district, has caused extensive loss to Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company (GESCOM).
Electricity poles have been uprooted, transformers and cables damaged in many parts of the district.
According to sources, 141 poles have been uprooted, six transformers damaged and cable measuring around 2 km has been rendered waste.
Of the 141 poles, 93 are in Shorapur sub-division and the balance, 48, in Yadgir sub-division.
Of the six transformers, three each are in both the divisions. The total loss due to rain and winds has been estimated at ₹7 lakh.
Meanwhile, GESCOM officers visited the affected spots under their respective divisions and initiated restoration work.
