The much-anticipated National Highway-352W, linking Gurugram, Pataudi and Rewari, is now expected to be completed by December this year, officials said. Originally set for completion by March 2023, the project faced several hurdles and design changes that led to delays.
This 45-km stretch is being developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at an estimated cost of around Rs 1,000 crore. Starting from Sector-84 on the Dwarka Expressway, the highway will pass through Wazirpur village before connecting to Rewari via Gurugram-Pataudi Road. To ease traffic movement, 25 flyovers and underpasses are being constructed along the route. Once completed, it is expected to significantly improve commuting for thousands of residents and travellers.
At present, around 66 per cent of the highway’s construction work has been completed.
Obstacles slowing down progress
One of the major bottlenecks has been the presence of six high-tension electricity cables along a six-km stretch between Dwarka Expressway and Wazirpur village. Four of these belong to Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam, one to DDAL, while the Bhakra Beas Management Board has another high-tension line in the area. While efforts are on to shift these lines, a stay order from the Punjab and Haryana High Court is delaying the removal of the BBMB line, causing work to stall.
Adding to the challenges, the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) had constructed a rain drain near Sector-84 in Gurugram, which now needs to be demolished to make way for the service road. However, the demolition work has been left pending, further delaying construction.
Additionally, an underpass has been planned beneath the railway line in Pataudi, but the NHAI is still awaiting clearance from the Railway Department. Only after the approval is granted will construction begin.

Another key component is a flyover that will connect NH-352W to the Dwarka Expressway. At the moment, just 40 per cent of the flyover construction has been completed. Once it is in place, travel between Dwarka Expressway and Pataudi or Rewari will become much smoother and quicker.
“National Highway 352W will be ready by December this year. There are some obstacles in its construction. These obstacles are being removed,” said Prakash Tiwari, Manager, NHAI.
