Homage paid to Rabiya – The Hindu


Socio-political leaders of Kerala paid rich tributes to the State’s pioneering literacy advocate K.V. Rabiya on Sunday. Leading them was Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who saluted Ms. Rabiya’s indomitable will in his condolence message.

“Rabiya has left a legacy to remind us that disabilities do not limit knowledge and letters. She will be remembered forever for the initiatives she made in education,” said the Chief Minister.

Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan said Ms. Rabiya’s was a life set aside for her fellow beings even while fighting adversities of various kinds. “Kudos to Rabiya for her unwavering dedication to spreading literacy, proving that adversity cannot hinder true determination and passion,” said Mr. Satheesan, adding that her death was a loss to entire Kerala.

Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) State president Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal paid tribute to Ms. Rabiya, noting that she had brought the light of education to hundreds with precision and dedication, and prayed for her soul’s salvation.

IUML national general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty said that Ms. Rabiya proved through her unwavering tenacity that determination could conquer all obstacles. “She mesmerised us with her determination,” he said.
