Commissioner of Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency A.V. Ranganath severely reprimanded the authorities of a hospital on Friday, over the floors raised illegally beyond the permitted limit.
Responding to complaints by local residents, Mr. Ranganath undertook a field inspection of the Dr. Shankar’s Hospital at RTC Crossroads, and found that the hospital raised basement plus six floors with a permission from GHMC for only four floors.
He also noticed that the building had only 10 feet road on one side and 15 feet road on the other. The owner got the permission mentioning the road width as 25 feet, which was not counter checked by the GHMC authorities. There was no clearance from the Fire department either, but the builder produced a third party audit report. Besides, there were deviations on all sides, to the extent of 10 feet, occupying the road.
Mr. Ranganath also found fault with Medical & Health authorities for issuing a licence to the hospital without any occupancy certificate from the GHMC, and recommended action. He referred to the latest order by the Supreme Court, and said power connection and water connection should not be given to buildings without occupancy certificate.
He sought a report with all details from the GHMC’s Chief Planner for Secunderabad Zone, Srinivas, a statement from HYDRAA informed.
