To bridge the gap between the Indian electronics manufacturers and global technology firms, India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA) on Tuesday has launched a Venture Access Labs – an access programme in collaboration with venture capital fund Caret Capital.

This initiative aims to empower India’s electronics and appliances manufacturing companies by enabling them to discover, curate, and adopt cutting-edge technologies and innovations from across the world.

ICEA that represents electronics manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, Lava, LG, Google, Foxconn, Dixon, Asus, HP, Intel, etc. has collaborated with venture capital fund Caret Capital. Caret Capital is a thematic venture capital fund backing category-building start-ups through investments in transformative technologies.

Innovations across domains

Through this programme, companies will connect with transformative innovations across domains such as advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things , energy efficiency, materials science, and more. The comprehensive programme will cover several functions including procurement, planning, manufacturing, supply chain, finance and HR, ICEA said.

“By opening the door to international technological advancements and building an innovation pipeline, we aim to accelerate India’s electronics manufacturing capabilities and global competitiveness so as to capture a larger global market share,” Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman, ICEA said.

As India advances toward becoming a $10 trillion economy, the manufacturing and electronics sectors will be at the forefront — driving not only growth but also creating millions of jobs, said the industry body.

“It is time for Indian electronics and appliances manufacturing to transit to tech first led global leadership. Venture Access Labs is a reverse mentoring and deep engagement ecosystem, connecting Indian manufacturers with the world’s tech leaders and top disruptors,” Salil Kapoor Co-founder and Chief mentor of Venture Access Labs, said.
