Snehil Kumar Singh, District Collector of Kozhikode inaugurates SmartShree initiative
The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode’s business incubator, Laboratory for Innovation Venturing and Entrepreneurship (IIMK LIVE), in collaboration with the Kudumbashree Mission has launched SmartShree, an initiative aimed at supporting and scaling 150 micro-enterprise units led by Kudumbashree women entrepreneurs through structured capacity building, intensive mentorship, and institutional backing.
Snehil Kumar Singh, District Collector of Kozhikode, in his inaugural address emphasised “innovation is the need of the hour. We must move towards wealth creation through job creation. Initiatives like SmartShree are crucial for growing bigger and better through entrepreneurship.”
‘SmartShree’ represents a transformative collaboration between IIMK LIVE’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and Kudumbashree’s extensive grassroots network. The initiative is designed to catalyse sustainable growth, enhance local livelihoods, and foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among women in Kerala.
Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode & Chairman, IIMK LIVE said, “Empowering women at the grassroots is not just economic reform—it is a societal transformation. SmartShree is an expression of IIM Kozhikode’s mission to democratise entrepreneurship and create a more inclusive future.”
The selection panel comprised experts from IIMK LIVE, IIM Kozhikode faculty, Kudumbashree representatives, and experienced industry professionals, ensuring a well-rounded assessment focused on entrepreneurial potential and social impact. The selected enterprises span diverse sectors, including manufacturing, services, and food processing.
P.C. Kavitha, District Mission Coordinator – Kudumbashree, highlighted the evolving role of Kudumbashree units in Kerala’s local economy and urged participants to leverage the comprehensive support offered by IIMK LIVE. “Scaling these enterprises is essential. The mentorship and training under SmartShree offer a unique opportunity.”
