On Saturday, as the ceasefire agreement was signed between India and Pakistan, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi in second press briefing of the day highlighted Pakistan’s several attempts to spread misinformation about its progress in its offensive against India.
In a press briefing, she also expressed, “India is a secular nation, and our armed forces are deeply committed to upholding the constitutional values of the country.
Colonel Qureshi began the press briefing by dismissing several false claims made by Pakistan in recent days.
“Pakistan falsely claimed that it had targeted India’s S-400 and BrahMos missile bases using its JF-17 aircraft. This claim is entirely baseless and incorrect,” she said.
She further clarified that another piece of misinformation circulating from Pakistan alleged damage to Indian airfields located in Sirsa, Jammu, Pathankot, Bhatinda, Naliya, and Bhuj.
“These claims are completely false. Our morning briefing, supported by facts and figures, has already clarified that all these locations remain fully secure and unharmed.”
Colonel Qureshi also addressed allegations regarding Indian ammunition depots. “There was another claim by Pakistan that ammunition dumps in Chandigarh and Beas were damaged. This too is entirely untrue,” she affirmed.
A particularly serious allegation was also raised by Pakistan during its press conference, wherein they accused the Indian Army of causing damage to religious structures. Refuting the allegation strongly, Colonel Qureshi said, “This is a completely baseless and misleading claim. Let me reiterate—India is a secular nation, and our armed forces are deeply committed to upholding the constitutional values of the country.”
Highlighting the success of India’s recent military operations, she stated, “The Indian Armed Forces have inflicted damage on Pakistan’s military infrastructure—including both land and air assets. We have effectively targeted and neutralised key airfields such as Skardu, Jacobabad, Sargodha, and Bhulari.”
“In addition, Pakistan’s air defence and radar systems have been rendered ineffective, and their command, control, logistics, and military infrastructure near the Line of Control have suffered massive losses. This has severely weakened Pakistan’s offensive and defensive capabilities,” she added.
In the ending of her statement, the colonel reaffirmed India’s readiness and resolve, saying that the Indian Armed Forces remain fully prepared, alert, and committed to safeguarding India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
