A batch of Kenbey packaged drinking water bottles was seized in Boduppal on Tuesday after task force teams from Telangana’s Commissioner of Food Safety found them being sold with expired licences and without proper labelling.

The inspection was part of a wider crackdown on packaged drinking water and milk storage facilities in Boduppal and Chengicherla areas.

Officials raided Sri Sai Ganesh Enterprises, where they found 16 cartons of Kenbey 2-litre bottles and 15 cartons of 250ml bottles without any labels. The licence printed on the bottles had expired, prompting authorities to seize the stock. The laboratory at the facility was also found to be non-functional, raising concerns about the company’s quality control standards.

Further checks revealed poor hygiene conditions in the milk product manufacturing section of the same establishment. Inspectors noted the presence of houseflies in the area and discarded 38 kilograms of unlabelled Ajmer Kalakand.

All collected samples have been sent for laboratory testing.

“The licence of the establishment will be suspended as per provisions of the FSS Act, 2006,” a release stated.

In a parallel inspection at S.R. Enterprises in Chengicherla, officials discovered stagnant water and slippery floors in the production area, along with insect entry points due to improperly fitted doors. Workers were seen checking bottle caps without gloves in unhygienic conditions, and a lizard was found in the filtration room near the tank.
