Labour force in T.N. dissatisfied with DMK govt: Tamilisai

BJP leader and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Thursday said the labour force in Tamil Nadu are not satisfied with the DMK government as it has failed to fulfill their demands.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Dr. Tamilisai said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, labour laws in the country have undergone significant reform, becoming more labour-friendly. “However, in Tamil Nadu, the labour force remains dissatisfied with the DMK government. Over 10,000 nurses – who form the backbone of the State’s medical infrastructure – are employed on a temporary basis. They do not receive the same benefits as permanent staff, including fair wages and earned leave and have long been demanding regularisation of their services.”

Similarly, the Teacher Recruitment Board conducted examinations to fill over 6,000 secondary grade teacher vacancies. Yet, appointment orders have not been issued. Doctors, police personnel and TASMAC employees have also staged protests, seeking rightful benefits, she said.

She also said despite giving poll promises to fill vacancies across all departments, the DMK has failed to do so after coming to power. “Communist parties, which claim to represent the interests of the working class, have remained silent on these issues, due to vote bank considerations,” she alleged.
