Man arrested for alleged murder of migrant worker in Kasaragod

The police on Wednesday arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the alleged murder of a migrant worker from West Bengal, identified as Sushant Roy, at a construction site of the office building of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).

The arrested is Sanjith Roy, a relative of Sushant Roy. The alleged murder took place in the early hours of Monday following a drunken brawl among workers.

District Police Chief Vijay Bharat Reddy confirmed that the death was caused by a fatal blow to the neck with a wooden stick. “The murder was not premeditated but triggered by sudden provocation under the influence of alcohol,” he said.

The post-mortem conducted at the Kannur Medical College Hospital had revealed that neck injuries caused the death.

The investigation team was led by DySP C.K. Sunil Kumar and inspector Nalinakshan.
