Man held for cheating job aspirants in Cuddalore


The District Crime Branch police on Wednesday arrested a 58-year-old man for allegedly cheating job aspirants of several lakhs of rupees by promising them government jobs. The arrested was identified as S. Baskar of Purasawalkam in Chennai.

According to the police, the complainant, C. Nagaraj, got to know the accused through a mutual acquaintance. The accused claimed that he was highly influential among government officials and offered to get jobs in the Revenue department and Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation.

The accused had collected ₹5.5 lakh from the victim and several other persons in Cuddalore promising them government jobs. Following a complaint, the DCB police conducted an investigation and arrested Baskar. A case has been registered.
