A 53-year-old man was arrested for killing his son in his house at Vaniyambadi on Sunday over an argument.

According to police, the arrested individual was identified as K. Murugesan, owner of a cycle workshop in the town. Preliminary investigations indicated that Murugesan was preparing to head to his workshop when he encountered his son, M. Sridhar, 25, in the living room. He questioned his son about not going to work for several days, sparking an argument. The situation escalated when Sridhar told his father to stop coming home drunk.

Enraged, Murugesan allegedly grabbed a kitchen utensil and struck Sridhar forcefully in the chest. Sridhar collapsed. Immediately, Family members and neighbours rushed him to Government Taluk Hospital in Vaniyambadi town where doctors said that he was dead on arrival. A case was registered by Vaniyambadi police. Later, police arrested Murugesan, who was lodged at sub-jail in Tirupattur town.
