A fast-track special court for the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Cherthala on Friday sentenced a 39-year-old man to 18 years of imprisonment for abusing a four-year-old girl.
Judge Vani K.M. also imposed a fine of ₹1.5 lakh on the convict, identified as Siraj, alias Mamu, 39, of Fort Kochi in Ernakulam. According to the prosecution, the child was molested by Siraj on July 25, 2022. The court found him guilty under various counts and awarded three six-year sentences. The sentences shall run concurrently.
The case was registered and investigated by the Poochakkal police.
