A tragic incident occurred near Rama Kere on Sunday at Mudhol village in Sedam taluk of Kalaburagi district where a 46-year-old woman collapsed and died while at work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA).
The deceased has been identified as Ramulamma, wife of Hanumanthu Nadepalli, a resident of Mudhol village in Sedam taluk.
As per her fellow workers, the woman collapsed suddenly when carrying out her assignment in canal construction on the right side of Rama Kere.
The exact cause of her death remains unknown. The police, who visited the spot, have begun investigation.
Meanwhile, MGNREGA workers leaders Vijaykumar Khewaji and Thammappa Bagali have demanded that the government provide a compensation of ₹10 lakh to the woman’s family, highlighting that she died while on duty under the employment guarantee scheme.
