Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, BJP MLA, dismissed State Minister Shivanand Patil’s resignation, calling it a “big drama.” “Minister Shivanand Patil’s resignation is nothing but a big drama. I will not resign until his resignation is accepted,” Mr. Yatnal said while speaking to reporters in Mangaluru on Friday.
“A legislator’s resignation has to be only two lines long. A conditional resignation will never be accepted. Anyone with a little common sense knows this. Does the minister not know this? It means that he lacks common sense. What do you expect from such people?,” he asked.
Mr. Yatnal, the MLA from Bijapur city assembly constituency in Vijayapura district, said that though he had the popular support to defeat Mr. Patil in his Basavana Bagewadi constituency, he would not resign now. “I have already made it clear that I would resign only after Mr. Patil’s resignation is accepted. What Mr. Patil has done now is not submitting his resignation, but high drama,” Mr. Yatnal said.
