The Thiruvananthapuram Additional District and Sessions Court VI will deliver its verdict in the sensational Nanthancode murder case on Tuesday.
The case involves Cadell Jeansen Raja, the accused, who stands trial for the murders of his parents Raja Thankam and Jean Padma, sister Caroline and aunt Lalitha at their house in Bains Compound in Nanthancode in April 2017. After committing the murders on April 5 and 6, he fled to Chennai before getting caught upon his arrival at Thampanoor on April 10.
The prosecution’s case relies heavily on forensic evidence, including the discovery of the victims’ blood on the accused’s clothing as well as forensic reports. The accused’s mental state was also a point of concern during the trial. The defence claimed the accused suffered from mental ailments, while the prosecution maintained that a mentally ill person cannot commit such a crime in an organised manner.
