Following the recent promotion of eight professors to the rank of Additional Director of Medical Education (ADME), the State government has made new appointments to the posts of Principals of Government Medical Colleges(GMC) and superintendents of Teaching Hospitals.
With the approval of the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, three new principals and five new superintendents have been appointed to fill the vacancies. Additionally, three sitting principals and one superintendent have been transferred.
The new principals appointed are: K.V.S.M. Sandhya Devi, to the Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam; A. Vishnu Vardhan, Government Medical College, Kakinada; and G. Rajeswari, Nellore Government Medical College.
The new superintendents are: K.A.V. Subramanyam, Ongole Government General Hospital; C. Amulya, GGH in Srikakulam; J. Radha, SVRRGGH (Sri Venkateswara Ramnarayan Ruia Government General Hospital), Tirupati; and V. Manmadha Rao GGH, Machilipatnam. A.V. Rao, the acting Superintendent, GGH Vijayawada, is now given regular charge of the post.
Transfers
A. Surekha, principal of the Kadapa Government Medical College has been transferred to the Government Medical College, Nandyal; T. Jamuna from GGH Ongole Superintendent to GMC, Kadapa, principal; G. Ravi Prabhu from Superintendent, SVRRGH, Tirupati to principal, Sri Venkateswara Medical College, Tirupati.
According to a press release from the health department, five of the 12 persons listed for promotion to ADME rank have refused promotion. Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Y. Satya Kumar Yadav expressed concern over this, and brought it to the notice of the Chief Minister while sending the proposal.
