The company aims to have a multi-product portfolio and aims to sell one lakh units each in the domestic and export markets this financial year
Nissan Motor India, on Wednesday, reiterated that it has no plans to shut down production at its Chennai plant and was already preparing to roll out new products in the future.
The company aims to have a multi-product portfolio and aims to sell one lakh units each in the domestic and export markets this financial year, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, told reporters.
“It is really important that I must put to rest any speculation that Nissan is planning to exit India and Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd (RNAIPL) stake dilution is an indication of that,” Vatsa said at a virtual meeting.
The company plans to introduce three new products in India by early 2027 and also aims to add 20 more dealerships this year, from 160 dealers right now.
Nissan India will launch a seven-seater B-segment multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in the first quarter of CY2026, followed by a C-SUV five- and seven-seater by early 2027, he said.
On March 31, this year, Renault announced to acquire partner Nissan’s 51 per cent stake in their Indian manufacturing joint venture — RNAIPL — for an undisclosed amount.
“It’s important to understand that we are absolutely well entrenched in India…our production plans, our future capacity all are in place. They are all secure, nothing is out of sync…we are here, and we are here to stay,” Vatsa said.
CNG retrofitment kit
Meanwhile, the company announced a government-approved CNG retrofitment kit for its only selling vehicle Magnite SUV. The CNG kit option is available only with the new Magnite 1.0 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with the manual gearbox.
The CNG kit is fully developed, manufactured and quality assured by Motozen (third party) as per the country’s regulatory standards. Motozen will provide warranty for kit components, the company said.
The complete retrofitment will be available at an additional cost of ₹74,999 through its authorised dealerships in seven States — Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala and Karnataka.
The rollout of the CNG kit fitment will be done in a phased manner across the country, the company said.
