NMDC clocks 15% surge in April output at 4 mt

NMDC (National Mineral Development Corporation) has produced 4 million tonnes of iron ore and sold 3.63 mt, marking its highest-ever April volumes since its inception. With a growth of 15 per cent in production and 2.8 per cent in sales figures over the same last year.

Commenting on the performance in the first month of the financial year 2025-26, NMDC Chairman and Managing Director Amitava Mukherjee said that the record-breaking April performance, coupled with best-ever despatch figures from the major iron ore mines – Kirandul, Bacheli and Donimalai – solidified the company’s leadership position.

“This would set a strong foundation for achieving our ambitious target of becoming 100 mt mining company by 2030,” he said.

In April 2025, the public sector company achieved its highest-ever monthly despatch, marking a significant 23 per cent increase over the same month last year. The Bacheli Complex also excelled, recording its best-ever April road despatch at 2.22 lakh tonnes, a growth of 25 per cent increase. “The pellet production soared to an all-time high of 0.23 lakh tonnes, surpassing the previous April record set in 2018,” an NMDC statement said here on Saturday.
