The Bharatiya Janata Party-led Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board on Thursday (May 1, 2025) handed over an appointment letter to the brother of Syed Adil Hussain Shah from Anantnag’s Haptnar. Shah was killed during the Pahalgam terror attack when he tried to save the lives of tourists.

“The appointment letter is a gesture to honour Adil’s supreme sacrifice. He gave his life to protect others. This job letter is a small tribute to his courage. His sacrifice will never be forgotten,” J&K Waqf Board chairperson Darakhshan Andrabi said.

She also praised locals of J&K who stood in solidarity of the Pahalgam terror attack victims. “Peoples of J&K created history by standing in solidarity with the victims,” Ms. Andrabi said.

Syed Nazakat Ahmad, brother of the victim, said he feels proud that his brother laid down his life to save others. “I thank the Board for its gesture. The job will sustain our livelihood. All I want is that Adil’s act should be an inspiration for others,” Mr. Ahmad said.

Earlier, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited the victim’s family and had promised a job to the kin of the deceased, who was among 26 civilians killed by terrorists in Pahalgam’s Baisaran on April 22.
