Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) reached out to the nominee of Somisetty Madhusudhan, who was killed in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, and settled his claim in a jiffy.

Madhusudhan’s mortal remains were airlifted from Kashmir and sent via Chennai to his home town of Kavali in SPSR Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh. The final rites were performed on Thursday afternoon (April 24, 2025).

However, within a couple of hours of the arrival of the body, officials of LIC of India took steps for settlement of the claim pertaining to a life insurance policy that Madhusudhan had taken in Kavali branch.

The company’s staff collected the insurance bond from the family members, corroborated the same with the details in the FIR and other documents filed by the police pertaining to the attack case etc.

“We settled the claim within a day as per the directions of our head office. Our staff will formally call on the family members by evening and convey our condolences,” LIC of India’s Kavali branch manager Balaji Babu told The Hindu over telephone on Friday (April 25, 2025.)

The claim proceeds were directly credited into the bank account of the nominee on Thursday (April 24, 2025.)
