A 28-year-old head constable attached to Avadi battalion was killed after the two-wheeler he was travelling in hit a roadside tree on Arakkonam – Ranipet Main Road near Sholinghur town in Ranipet on Wednesday. 

Police said the deceased was identified as K. Dhilip, a native of Kizhadamottur village near Sholinghur. Initial inquiry revealed that Dhilip was returning to his house in the village after taking leave from work in his two-wheeler when he lost control of the vehicle and hit the roadside tree.

Immediately, passersby and other motorists rescued him. They also alerted Kondapalayam police, who rushed to the spot. Later, he was shifted to Government Taluk Hospital in Sholinghur town where doctors declared him dead on arrival. A case was registered. A probe is under way.
