Police intensify combing operations on Karregutta hillocks along Telangana-Chhattisgarh border

An uneasy calm gripped the hamlets along the Karregutta hillocks spanning Telangana-Chhattisgarh border following a massive combing operation launched by the security forces in coordination with the police of both Telangana and Chhattisgarh in the forested border region in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Split into separate teams, the security forces surrounded the hillocks from all directions and started scouring the hills straddling the inter-State border based on a specific input about the reported movement of Maoist cadres, including a most-wanted Maoist, in the small hours of Tuesday, sources said.

The joint combing operations in the Karregutta hillocks spread across the inter-State border continued till late on Tuesday night.

The Mulugu district police heightened vigil along the volatile inter-State border with Chhattisgarh amid the intensification of anti-Maoist operations in the south Bastar division of the neighbouring State.
