Police seize 321 kg gutkha at Walajah tollgate; two held 


Two persons were arrested at a toll gate in Walajah town near Ranipet on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway (NH-44) for possession of 321 kg of gutkha on Tuesday. 

Police said the arrested persons were identified as V. Kalyanram, 28, and G. Kanaram, 24, both residents of Rajasthan. Initial inquiry revealed that the two were heading to Chennai from Bengaluru. When they were stopped by the police at the toll gate, Mr. Kanaram gave contradictory answers to queries about the purpose of travel. 

When they checked the vehicle, the police found the banned product and seized it. A case was registered by the Walajah police. The duo were arrested and lodged in a sub-jail in Walajah town.
