President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday conferred six Kirti Chakras, including four posthumously, and 33 Shaurya Chakras during Phase-I of the Defence Investiture Ceremony 2025 held at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
The gallantry awards were presented to personnel from the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and State and Union Territory Police for displaying extraordinary courage, unwavering dedication, and selfless service in the line of duty.
The honours recognised valiant acts during counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations, particularly in Jammu & Kashmir and the North-East, where several high-risk missions led to the neutralisation and arrest of heavily armed terrorists, as well as the recovery of significant caches of arms and ammunition.
Officers from the Indian Navy were also honoured for their leadership in anti-piracy missions that led to the surrender of pirates and the successful rescue of hostages. Their bravery also shone through in dangerous fire-fighting efforts aboard a burning oil tanker.
Personnel from the Indian Air Force were recognised for their gallantry in averting potential disasters during in-flight emergencies.
Meanwhile, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officers received accolades for their fearless actions in regions affected by Left-Wing Extremism.
