HYDERABAD
“Razakar (Silent Genocide of Hyderabad)“, a film produced by Gudur Narayana Reddy, bagged two awards at the 15th Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival held in New Delhi on Thursday (May 1).
The film won awards for Best Debut Director and Best Cinematography, recognising its stark portrayal of Operation Polo and the annexation of the princely state of Hyderabad into the Indian Union in 1948.
Directed by Yata Satyanarayana, the film revisits the events leading to the integration of Hyderabad under the leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, following a military intervention against the Razakars, the Nizam’s private militia.
