Nearly two dozen spectators were injured after a portion of a temporary wooden gallery that was erected for a football tournament at Kothamangalam reportedly collapsed late on Sunday night.
The injured who were admitted to various hospitals were from among the nearly 4,000 people who had gathered to witness the final of the tournament that was reportedly held at a flood-lit ground of a school. Children and women too were among the spectators.
A part of the gallery fell, reportedly to one side just before the commencement of the match. The match was subsequently cancelled. The Pothanikad police are probing the cause of the mishap.
