The Tamil Nadu government’s special officer Aftab Rasool visited the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Srinagar on Monday to ensure the safety on students from TN studying in that campus. Authorities there have assured any help, if needed.
On receipt of some concerns by parents of students studying in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam directed Mr. Rasool to meet these students to ensure their safety. Mr. Rasool had also visited the National Institute of Fashing Technology (NIFT) in Badgam district on Saturday last and met students from TN studying there.
While 12 students from Tamil Nadu were studying in NIT in Hazratbal in Srinagar, 11 were studying in NIFT in Ompura in Badgam. The special officer met our students studying in these institutes and also the authorities there to assured them all help from the TN government, an official said.
Soon after the terror attack near Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 human lives, the TN government set up a control room in Tamil Nadu House in Delhi to coordinate and facilitate the safe return of Tamils. TN’s special representative in the national capital A.K.S. Vijayan and Resident Commissioner Ashish Kumar have been coordinating the efforts.
Meanwhile, the condition of Dr. Parameswaran, undergoing treatment for bullet injuries in AIIMS, New Delhi was improving, an official said.
