Ahead of the Assembly election in Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday (April 29, 2025) promised to give an adequate number of seats to the people of Vaishya (Baniya) community.

He announced it while taking part in the birth anniversary of Bhamashah, the close aide of Rajput Leader Maharana Pratap Singh. Mr. Yadav said that Bhamashah always supported Maharana Pratap in the fight for self-respect and there is a need to take forward his ideas.

Soon after garlanding his oil painting and paying tribute, Mr. Yadav asserted that RJD has always given respect to the Vaishya community and the relationship of trust that has been formed with them.

“I have promised the Vaishya community that if they will walk one step with us then Tejashwi will walk four steps with them. In the 2020 assembly election we had given tickets to 15 candidates of Vaishya community. Even in the 2024 Lok Sabha, we gave three tickets to this community. We have always given respect to the Vaishya community and RJD will keep on giving in future as well,”Mr Yadav said in the programme organised by the Business Cell at the party office.

In front of people of Vaishay community, the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly alleged the Nitsh Kumar led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government for working against businessmen, whether it is the matter of GST or any other type of tax.

Mr. Yadav accused that the Central and State governments were harassing the Vaishya community economically. He further claimed that due to incidents of murder, robbery, crime and atrocities against businessmen, fear prevails among them.

“You all know how the NDA government is working against you, why the double engine government is working against your interests. It really pains me that your society is being harassed continuously. You all are being forced to live in an atmosphere of fear,”Mr. Yadav said.

Praising his party leader Ranvijay Sahu who has maintained the data of atrocities against the businessmen in Bihar, Mr. Yadav said that whenever any incident against the Vaishya community takes place, Mr.Sahu ensures to visit that place and speak to the affected families.

Medieval warrior king Maharana Pratap turned poor after losing the battle of Haldighati to the Mughals and it was his minister Bhamashah who gave him gold coins to Maharana to continue the battles against Mughals.

Accompanied by Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Yadav, former RJD state president Ram Chandra Purvey and other leaders, Mr. Yadav said that there was no need for a tired Chief Minister who runs the state with the retired officers.

He asserted that Mr. Kumar cannot handle the responsibility towards 13 crore people of Bihar.

“All of you should cooperate in uniting society. We will work to give you a fear and free environment. You all should come together and give us a chance to create a new Bihar, we will create a new Bihar for you. Everyone knows that in the 17 month’s Mahagathbandhan government we gave an opportunity to business and traders to grow in Bihar,”Mr. Yadav said.

He listed out work done during the period of grand alliance in Bihar when he was the Deputy Chief Minister. He explained more than 5 lakh people were given government jobs and investment of Rs 50000 crore was invited.

“To boost business, the Mahagathbandhan Government had brought a tourism policy in the tourism sector but Chacha ji (read Nitish Kumar) changed his mind at the last moment. Give us an opportunity of 5 years, we are determined to change Bihar,”Mr. Yadav said.
