Young mountaineer Bhukya Yashwanth from Mahabubabad district in Telangana has achieved another feat by successfully summiting Mount Iso (Esii), the highest peak in Manipur, as part of his ‘Har Shikhar Par Tiranga’ mission on Sunday (May 4, 2025). This mission aims to hoist the national flag on the highest peak of every Indian state.
Mount Iso, also known as Tempu (2,994 metre above the sea level) in Nagaland, is not only the popular peak in this hill range but has a title of the highest peak in Manipur to itself. It lies in Barail Range in the border of the Manipur and Nagaland States.
Yashwanth took the help of the Assam Rifles, 16 Battalion, including Colonel Sandeep Sharma and Lieutenant Colonel Siddharth who accompanied him during the expedition. This achievement is part of Yashwanth’s larger mission to cover the highest peaks of the Seven Sister States in North-East India.
“I have successfully summited Mount Gorichen in Arunachal Pradesh, Betalongchhip in Tripura, and now Mount Iso in Manipur,” Yashwanth said.

His mountaineering credentials are impressive, with several international summits under his belt, including Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa; Mount Elbrus in Europe; and Mount Kosciuszko in Australia. He has also conquered major Indian peaks, including Mount Gorichen in Arunachal Pradesh, Mount Yunam in Himachal Pradesh, Mount Kang Yatse II in Ladakh, and Mount Everest Base Camp on the Nepal side.
“Every summit is a tribute to our Tiranga and to the spirit of India. I am climbing with the goal of inspiring youth across the country to dream bigger, aim higher, and always carry their nation in their hearts,” Yashwanth added.
