Three persons were arrested by Bagayam police on Friday for supplying ganja to inmates of Central Prison in Vellore.
Police said the arrested persons were identified as S. Mohan, 24, V. Harish, 22, and Mohammed Jaffer, 25. Initial inquiry revealed that Mohan and Harish used to visit their friend and inmate K. Vishnu, 22, regularly.
During one such visit, the duo had concealed a small packet of ganja in their mouth while waiting at the visitor arena in the prison. As soon as they saw Vishnu, the duo threw the packet towards him.
On noticing this, a constable reported the incident to the prison officials. The duo was nabbed and based on their alert, the police also arrested Mohammed Jaffer, who supplied ganja to them. Around 50 gm of ganja was seized from Jaffer. A case was registered. They were lodged at Central Prison in Vellore. An investigation is under way.
