Three killed, six injured in head-on collision near Venkatraopet gate


Three members of a family, including a toddler, were killed and six others injured when two cars collided head-on near Venkatraopet gate in Kowdipally late on Sunday night. The Narsapur police of Medak booked a case.

The accident occurred around midnight on Sunday. An officer from the Narsapur police said the collision involved two cars travelling in opposite directions. One of the vehicles was driven by Vanam Harish Reddy, 35, who is now accused of negligent driving. Mr. Harish survived the crash with a fractured leg.

“The deceased were identified as Pasha Ali, 50, his wife Azeema Begum, 45, and their one-and-a-half-year-old grandson, Ghouse. Pasha Ali died on the spot due to the force of the impact. Azeema and Ghouse succumbed while undergoing treatment,” said the officer.

Those injured in the crash include Sana Begum, 30, Iran Sahesha, 25, Halima, 55, MD Mohammad, 5, and two other infants aged below six months. All of them sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Narsapur police have registered a case. Preliminary findings suggest overspeeding and possible reckless driving.
