Stating that the Central Government will give a fitting reply to the Pakistan-sponsored terror attack at Pahalgam in Kashmir, Union Minister for Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi called upon the people to stand united, keeping aside caste, religion and political party affiliations.
The Union Minister paid his last respects to Manjunath Rao, a realtor from Shivamogga who died in the terror attack in Kashmir, in Shivamogga on April 24. The mortal remains of Manjunath Rao reached his home around 10.15 a.m. His wife Pallavi R. and son Abhijan travelled in a separate vehicle from Bengaluru.
Mr. Joshi said the Pakistan-instigated terrorists attacked innocent tourists visiting Pahalgam. For many years, the nation had been the victim of terrorist attacks. In recent years, the terror activities had come down due to effective measures of the Central Government.
“In three years, after the COVID-19 lockdown, the number of tourists visiting Jammu and Kashmir had increased from five lakh to 25 lakh. The situation in the State had returned to normalcy, attracting tourists from different places. The local people of J&K were happy with the recent developments. However, terrorists have attacked again. We will give them a fitting reply,” he said.
The Minister said the Central Government had already taken diplomatic measures in reaction to the attack. “We have to stand united, keeping aside caste, religion and political associations. Let us put an end to terrorist activities,” he stated.
Lok Sabha member B.Y. Raghavendra, legislators S.N. Channabasappa, Dhananjay Sarji, Sharada Puryanaik, former minister K.S. Eshwarappa were among those present. The district administration had made arrangements for the public and relatives to pay homage to Manjunath Rao.
