Up over 24% from IPO issue price, this smallcap health insurer tanks post block deal


Shares of Niva Bupa Health Insurance tumbled sharply in Monday’s trade (June 2, 2025) after a block deal in the counter in the pre-opening trade. As per Zee Business, 12 per cent equity  or 56.3 lakh shares changed hands in the scrip in the pre-opening deals in multiple transactions.

After tumbling to the day’s low of Rs 82, a drag of 11 per cent, shares at around 10:19 am traded with a cut of 9.6 per cent or Rs 8.86 at Rs 83.42 per share on the BSE. On the NSE, however, the scrip fell to the day’s low of Rs 81.63, falling as much as 11.55 per cent.

The health insurer for the March quarter reported a 31.21 per cent increase in standalone net profi during the March quarter to Rs 206.08 crore in the quarter ended March 2025 as against Rs 157.06 crore during the previous quarter ended March 2024. Sales rose 25.40 per cent to Rs 1527.42 crore in the quarter ended March 2025 in comparison to Rs 1218.05 crore during the previous quarter ended March 2024.

For the full year,net profit rose 160.87 per cent to Rs 213.52 crore in the year ended March 2025 as against Rs 81.85 crore during the previous year ended March 2024.

The health insurer launched its public issue last year and considering the previous trading day’s close at Rs 92 has climbed over 24 per cent over the IPO issue price.

The stock in the last 3 months has gained over 14 per cent, while the stock on a year-to-date basis has declined 0.8 per cent.
