The Ramanagara Cyber Crime police on Tuesday arrested a 30-year-old woman who claimed to be the wife of former Congress MP D.K. Suresh.
The accused has been charged with impersonation and forgery, among other offenses, based on a complaint by Pradeepa T., a Ramanagara-based advocate.
The complainant alleged that Pavitra Dodalahalli, a primary school teacher, claimed she was Mr. Suresh’s wife through posts on Facebook and Instagram accounts. The complainant also alleged that the woman posted photographs of D.K. Suresh, photoshopped along with her pictures, and also used the Congress party logo in some of the pictures.
On April 8, the woman posted a video on her Instagram account, claiming that she was proud of Mr. Suresh’s work as an MP and that she was happy to be his wife, the FIR noted. On March 22, the woman posted a screenshot of her voter ID on her Instagram account that had D.K. Suresh’s name written towards the husband’s name, the FIR stated.
The complainant told the police that through these, the woman was falsely claiming to be Mr. Suresh’s wife and cheating the public.
Earlier, the Chandra Layout police had booked a cheating case against Aishwarya Gowda, who claimed to be the sister of Mr. Suresh and allegedly cheated a city-based jeweller of ₹8.41 crore. The accused was arrested, and the case is being probed by Directorate of Enforcement (ED) for money laundering.
