Mandya legislators set up eight endowment awards in the name of S.M. Krishna’s


Agriculture Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy, legislators, and admirers of former Chief Minister late S.M. Krishna have contributed ₹45 lakh to set up a corpus to give eight endowment awards to people who have excelled in different fields such as agriculture, literature, law, and arts. The interest earned from the amount will be utilised for presenting the awards.

Mr. Cheluvarayanaswamy, who is also the district in-charge Minister of Mandya, has contributed ₹10 lakh, and it will be used to give an award to a progressive farmer identified by the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru, and the award for the best social service person identified by the Karnataka Sangha, Mandya.

Maddur MLA K.M. Uday has contributed ₹10 lakh, and it will be used for giving awards to two gold medal students of the University of Mysore. Malavalli MLA and Karnataka State Pollution Control Board chairman P.M. Narendra Swamy has deposited ₹5 lakh for giving a prize for a gold medallist student in the Law University while A.B. Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda, MLA, and chairman of CESC, has contributed ₹5 lakh for giving award to best artist student of the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bengauru.

Mandya MLA Ravikumar Ganiga has donated ₹5 lakh for gold medal students of the Mandya Agricultural University while Venkataramana Gowda (‘Star’ Chandru) has contributed ₹5 lakh towards a literary award by the Kannada Sahitya Parishat. Dinesh Guli Gowda, MLC representing the Mandya district, has donated ₹5 lakh for the best student of Ramakrishna Ashram, Mysuru, said an official press release.
