Boeing shares plunge on NYSE after Air India 787 crash

Boeing Co (BA) shares tumbled 3.97 per cent, falling $8.49 to $205.51 as of 10:21 AM Eastern Time (ET) on June 12, 2025, on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), following the deadly crash of an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad. The London-bound Flight AI171, carrying 242 passengers and crew, crashed near Meghani Nagar, with all onboard feared dead. Final casualty figures are yet to be confirmed.

This marks the first fatal accident involving the Boeing 787 Dreamliner since its launch. The aircraft, known for its advanced technology and strong safety record, was briefly grounded in 2013 due to battery issues but had never experienced a fatal crash until now.
