Swachha Andhra Diwas on April 19 with theme ‘e-Check’

Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister P. Narayana instructed officials to make arrangements for the successful conduct of Swachha Andhra-Swachha Diwas programme on April 19, 2025.

In a teleconference with municipal commissioners on Friday (April 18, 2025), Mr. Narayana said the programme was being held on the third Saturday of every month with a different theme each month to make the State 100% clean as per the Chief Minister’s vision.

The theme for Saturday’s programme was ‘e-Check’ aimed at collecting and reusing electronic waste from homes and shops in both towns and rural areas.

Mr. Narayana stressed the need for the people’s involvement in curbing the menace of e-waste material which were posing a significant environmental hazard.

He stated that special centres were being set up in municipalities for collecting the electronic waste and that the existing RRR (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle) centres were in the process of conversion into e-waste collection centres. The responsibility of collecting e-waste was assigned to women from self-help groups.

A total of 222 e-waste collection centres were functional in the State and several companies came forward to reuse the electronic waste. These centres would be kept open on all days.

Principal Secretary (MA&UD) S. Suresh Kumar and Swachha Andhra Corporation Chairman K. Pattabhiram and MD Anil Kumar Reddy were present.
